Brighton Celebrates 20th Annual ‘Leave a F*ck Tonne of Rubbish Down The Beach Festival’

Litter lovers from far and wide descended on the city yesterday enjoying what organisers have described as ‘the biggest and best Trash Fest yet’.

Whilst the final numbers are not yet confirmed it is thought yesterday’s litter count eclipsed the 20 tonnes collected from the beach at last years event. Thousands of revellers took advantage of the hot temperatures as they enjoyed 12 hours of some of the best littering worldwide.

Trash Fest founder Mark Thompson hailed all those who came along, ‘It was a fantastic day. We had locals and tourists mixing all doing their bit towards destroying the environment, absolutely magical. It was great to see some of the old favourites such cans of Red Stripe, wine bottles and the trusty discarded disposable BBQ. We were also treated to some more obscure acts such as soiled underwear and an inflatable penis, it all made for a wonderful day of littering.

Self proclaimed ‘garbage groupie’ Sophie Lewis travelled down from Hull with three friends for her third festival. ‘It’s a brilliant day with such a great vibe’ The 18 year old, clad in skimpy hot pants and a flowery head band, said. ‘It’s our third year and we always enjoy all the different types of litter. People talk about the sun set in Ibiza but it just doesn’t compare to watching the sun go down surrounded by your own filth on Brighton Beach’.

With the clear up now underway organisers are already planning for Trash Fest 2018
